Job Title: Head of Hospitality (Full Time)
Reports To: Operations Manager
Wellspent Brewing Company opened in March 2018. Our Midtown taproom has 80 seats inside and a large outdoor Courtyard. We use our small kitchen to offer tamales from The Tamale Man and small snacks from local vendors.
Wellspent is focused on serving high-quality, yeast-driven beers in a positive, inviting, comfortable space. As one of St. Louis’ smallest breweries, our taproom is the focal point of our brand and the driving force of our business. Nearly all our beer is either consumed in or purchased from our taproom. And so, our mission is to provide taproom guests with an experience and service that are both memorable and consistent.
Wellspent will reopen under new ownership in February 2020 with the original brewing staff.
In short, the Head of Hospitality will work with our team to ensure each customer’s experience is nothing short of exceptional.
Smooth operation of the taproom is the core focus: ensuring employees are appropriately scheduled and informed, that the taproom environment aligns with Wellspent standards and brand identity, and that all beers are served at their absolute best.
The Head of Hospitality is also responsible for curating and executing taproom events, coordinating private parties, and acting as a brand ambassador for Wellspent.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Head of Hospitality is responsible for the following:
Work as a team with taproom employees to tirelessly provide top notch service to our guests.
Create, market, and support an interesting and successful schedule of taproom events that align with Wellspent’s brand identity.
Ensure opening and closing duties are completed, by execution and delegation. These duties include (but are not limited to) cleaning FOH areas (bar, taproom, kitchen, bathrooms, etc.), drawer counts and tip-out, dishwashing, tamale prep, and inventory checks.
Ensure beers on tap meet Wellspent’s quality standards (correct temperature, no off-aromas or flavors, proper carbonation level, etc.).
Create and maintain an inviting taproom environment that aligns with Wellspent’s brand identity (music, temperature, cleanliness, conduct).
Maintain accurate taproom inventory (glassware, Crowlers, merch, food, etc.) and coordinate restock with Operations Manager.
Maintain daily schedule for taproom employees, completed and communicated on a biweekly basis no less than 10 days in advance.
Work with Operations Manager and taproom employees to properly market the taproom and events.
Communicate information to taproom employees, such as new beer details, taproom events and private party schedule, and minor modifications/additions to service procedures. New hire training and supplemental staff training will be lead by Operations Manager.
Must be 21 years or older
Available to work full-time (40+ hours/week), including nights and weekends
Exceptional customer service skills
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Demonstrated leadership ability
Event management experience preferred
Basic knowledge of major social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram) required. Experience creating content for and/or managing business social media preferred.
Hep A vaccination records
Basic math skills and ability to use a POS system (Wellspent-specific POS training will be provided)
Must be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs
What is NOT required:
Prior brewery experience.
Advanced knowledge of beer and/or brewing process (though curiosity and willingness to learn is preferred).
